The last and the best part of Prince of Persia on mobile phones

French developer Gameloft has released 5 parts of Prince of Persia for the time being: Harem Adventures, Sands of Time, Warrior Within, Two Thrones and the last one is Classic. The last part "Classic" is the remake of the first original PC game, which was released in 1989. Prince of Persia Classic holds the atmosphere and the gameplay system of the original game and adds better graphics and other new features. This new Prince who passed the regeneration process is really worth playing; let's look at the game in more details.

The first feature which will attract you is the graphics. Players used to criticize the graphics of the last platform side-scrolling games from Gameloft. All new games after the game Prince of Persia Warrior Within developed by Gameloft had very similar graphics. The game engine of Prince of Persia Two Thrones, Pirates of the Seven Seas, Assassin's Creed and for example Beowulf was the same. The developers add only new surroundings, new characters and new story based mainly on the license and the new games were born very quickly. But the graphics of Prince of Persia Classic is different. Gameloft is introducing the game engine of new generation and you can look forward to new better graphics. The new engine is also 2D, but has also the elements of 3D graphics, we could say that it is 2,5 graphics. You don't see only the profile of your hero and the profile of the platforms and other surrounding. Everything is plastic and looks very nice. The visual effects are perfect; this is called real innovation in the field of platform games. Congratulations Gameloft. We have been waiting for this very long.

Musical part of the game is the high standard as in all Gameloft's games. You will hear oriental music in the menu and at the end and in the beginning of each level. The sound effects during the game are also very good. You will hear the sounds of fighting with swords, drinking of potions, the special sound if you get hurt, etc. The game is really worth playing with sounds on.

And what is the game about? You play again as the Prince who has to save princess from the Jaffar's palace. There are no dialogues during the levels or between the levels, the story is not so important. You know what to do (to save the princess) and other is not significant. You can concentrate entirely on the jumping between platforms and fighting with enemies. The game offers 14 levels, all of them take place in the palace, but not only in one type of scenario. You will visit prison, barracks, catacombs, garden, warehouse and other interesting places in the palace. I am glad that there are not the "relaxation" levels in this game as in other platform games from Gameloft (riding horses, driving scooter, etc). All the levels have very good architecture and are very large.

The game offers 4 modes. You play the same levels in each mode, but the conditions are different. You can play normal mode (the coins placed in the level will help you find the way to the exit), classic mode (without coins), time attack (only the time matters, you should finish the game as fast as you can) or survival (you have only one life, without checkpoints). I was playing the game in the normal mode for 2 and half hours. The game is not simple, it is very hard to finish some of the levels and you will have to repeat them more times. The difficulty is set very high; the developers could add the possibility of changing the game's difficulty. There are some checkpoints during the levels (except the survival mode), but I think that there could be more checkpoints in this game. The levels are really large; they consist from approximately from 12 till 15 screens. In each screen you have to jump over platforms, avoid obstacles (falling ceilings, falling floors) or fight with the enemies. There is a nice butterfly in the game, which will show you the path through the level. Architecture of the levels is different in comparison with former platform games from Gameloft. In the former games the path through the level was straight. In Prince of Persia Classic there is not only the straight way. You can choose where to go; you don't have to visit all the places in the level. You will have to get back to already visited places and open some locked doors. It is a good choice from developers, the players could choose their own way. Another good innovation is well arranged map.

Prince of Persia Classic is a surprise for me. Gameloft proclaimed before each new platform game that it will be innovative and revolutionary game. But the games were very similar and mobile game players community condemned Gameloft for the copying of the games. Prince of Persia Classic testifies that Gameloft is No. 1 platform game producer and the game brings many innovations. The light effects in the game are amazing, Gameloft presents new game engine in this game, the movements of the Prince are realistic, and it is the pleasure to see this game in motion. Sounds are perfect as in all Games from Gameloft. Gameloft has improved also playing time; you will play 14 levels at least for 2 hours. Levels are very good designed; innovation like map will help you challenge the high difficulty of the game. The main handicap of the game is just its difficulty, it may discourage some players. If think that it would be big mistake not to play and finish this game. It is the best platform game on mobile phones, the best Prince of Persia sequel and the honest honor to old PC game. Do not hesitate, the Princess is waiting, she needs help. The only one who can help rescue her from Jaffar's hands is you, glorious Prince, Prince of Persia.
